North Bay Village Real Estate
North Bay Village – Seclusion In the Heart of It All.. Connected to Miami on the west and Miami Beach on the east via the 79th Street (John F. Kennedy CSWY) Causeway lies North Bay Village, a small community of just over 6,000 residents. Originally, the area was comprised of a single, 5-acre key, called Broadcast Key (so named for the radio station that was built upon it). However, that was changed in the 1940’s when a dredging operation created the two islands, Harbor Island and Treasure Island.
After its creation, North Bay Village was primarily used by snowbirds – those leaving the cold winters of the north for the warmer environs in southern Florida. This is the time when the island began to form a reputation for high quality restaurants and an excellent central location, enticing such big names as Judy Garland and Frank Sinatra who visited the island on a regular basis.
Today, North Bay Village is known for its new high-rise luxury condominium developments such as Cielo & Lexi Condos, but maintains its reputation for fun waterfront dining and central to some of the best shopping in the world. In addition, visitors and prospective residents will find some well priced single-family waterfront homes, somewhere on the order of around 380 total homes exist within the village.
Currently, North Bay Village is one of the best spots for those who want to enjoy all that south Florida has to offer, without the crowding found in cities like Miami, or within Miami Beach. Interestingly, what started as a vacationer community has changed into one made up almost completely of fulltime residents.
Of course, residents and visitors of North Bay Village will find easy access to all that south Florida has to offer. Just across the bay lies Miami Beach, where visitors can explore North Beach, South Beach, the Art Deco District and more. North lies Bal Harbour and Sunny Isles Beach, while a trip west leads to greater Miami, and the route south to the Florida Keys.
